UEG at GOTECH 2023:Accelerating a Sustainable Energy Future

The Gas & Oil Technology Showcase and Conference (GOTECH) was held in Dubai, UAE, from the 13th to the 15th of March. United Energy Group (UEG) took part in the conference as a Platinum Sponsor and was recognized and appreciated by the local government, organizers, exhibitors and visitors.

GOTECH is among the Middle East's notable and influential energy conferences. This year's conference was co-organized by Dragon Oil, a state-owned oil and gas company in UAE, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) under the patronage of the Dubai government and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. With the theme of "Sustainable Energy Transformation", GOTECH 2023 attracted thousands of visitors. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) participated in the opening ceremony. Basim Abdulkareem Naser, Director General of Basra Oil Company (BOC), and senior leaders of partner companies were also invited by UEG to the conference.

Over 50 technical sessions were held during the three-day conference covering diverse oil and gas-related topics on exploration, development, production, engineering, project management, HSE, training, and more. UEG colleagues traveling from China, Pakistan, Iraq and Egypt took an active role in the conference and participated in over 30 technical sessions. UEG's technical teams submitted over 100 papers, of which 24 were selected for GOTECH 2023.

Ali Rashid Al Jarwan, CEO of Dragon Oil, with other Dragon Oil delegates, visited UEG's booth and met enthusiastically with UEG's delegates and booth visitors. Dragon Oil delegates said that GOTECH provides a valuable platform for Dragon Oil, UEG and other energy companies to share knowledge and expertise and strengthen their collaboration. They thanked UEG for their considerable support to the GOTECH conference and expressed hope to deepen the strategic partnership between UEG and Dragon Oil and explore more cooperation opportunities in the Middle East market in the future.

 At the conference, UEG highlighted initiatives to reduce emissions in its oil and gas operations, including the Abu Sennan field in Egypt, which was selected as a role model in carbon emissions control at COP27. The Group also shared its ramped-up investments in renewable energy. Besides the JIMPHIR Wind Power Project in Pakistan, the Group successfully commissioned a 2.5 MW off-grid solar power project, the first of its scale in Iraq. Furthermore, UEG highlighted its commitment to strengthening energy security in the countries where it operates through stable and efficient operations and actively exploring new growth opportunities.

Through GOTECH, UEG bolstered its corporate image and reputation in the Middle East market and was recognized as a brand of great value. UEG also explored potential business partnership opportunities. Backed by the trust of its partners, UEG will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of the global energy industry by ensuring stable and safe oil and gas supplies as well as exploring opportunities in renewable energy, decarbonization and carbon emission credit trading.
