"Stand Together Through Hardest Time and Build Our Home Together "-United Energy Group's Flood Relief Effort

Pakistan has been hit by heavy rains since mid-June 2022, causing severe flooding. Unprecedented rains and flash floods have devastated many provinces in Pakistan. Sindh and Baluchistan provinces have witnessed the highest rainfall in 60 years. The Pakistani government says that the flood has cost tens of millions of dollars in damage and reconstruction, with about 33 million people affected.

UEG’s asset in Pakistan, UEP, has responded swiftly, providing assistance to Pakistani government and people in terms of medical care, supplies and infrastructure reconstruction. It has cooperated with local medical care institution, Aga Kan University Hospital to establish a medical camp, offering medical treatment to the displaced people caused by flood. It also delivered food, drinking water and other daily necessities to the affected families.

Additionally, UEG’s employees in Pakistan have actively participated in the relief efforts, making their own contributions. Some of them worked in the frontline of flood relief work and some of them made donations to the government, overcoming this difficulty time with local people. Several UEG’s employees who were coordinating with the efforts said that the disruption and damage caused by the flood was heartbreaking and we were working closely with local communities to provide emergency supplies to the worst-hit people. The relief work became even more difficult due to the flooded roads. Many infectious diseases such as diarrhea, malaria, dengue and others outbroke after the flood because of the lack of medical infrastructure.

UEG has been witnessing and practicing the good-neighborliness and friendly cooperation between China and Pakistan with its dedication to the local welfare causes. Amid this year’s severe flood, UEG supports its asset in Pakistan with fund in medical assistance, supplies and reconstruction after the disaster. “ Responsibility”is always one of UEG’s core value. Being a responsible enterprise, UEG has proactively practice its social responsibilities in where it operates although its own business being affected by the flood. With the principle that one is in trouble, all come to help deeply in its heart, UEG chooses to stand with Pakistani government and its people at this critical moment to combat flood and rebuild our beautiful home together.
